If you're looking for reasons why bad things happen to good people, consider this: the intersection where Jimmy left this earth now has much stricter traffic signage than had been in place before his August 4 accident.New signs appear at all four approaches to the intersection indicating that right turns on red lights are not allowed.
The last block of Haight Street, between Octavia and Market, has become one-way. You can only go up that last stretch, but not down. Multiple new street signs clarify the rules: there are several signs placed within the last block of Haight saying "one-way," and then there are a pair of "do not enter" signs facing traffic coming down Haight street from further up the hill.
The timing of the traffic lights on all four corners has also changed dramatically, so that north- and south-bound traffic have the right-of-way more than vehicles heading east. That change better reflects the fact that significantly more vehicles head to and from I-80 along Octavia than the amount of traffic coming down Haight Street.
Finally, during the shorter period of time that east-bound vehicles have the right of way, a new and separate set of yellow traffic lights flash on and off underneath signs saying "go slowly."
