Everyone who's ever played any kind of sport with Jimmy effuses about what a great athlete he was.
He won the Nevada Golden Gloves for boxing during high school. Also during those years, he was offered a baseball scholarship to -- I want to say it was one of the 24 Cal State campuses but don't quote me on it -- college and decided instead to enlist in the U.S. Navy.
The other teammate of his who'd gotten a baseball scholarship now plays for the Giants, according to what Jimmy told me. I'd love to track down whoever this is.
While I'm at it, let me say for the record here that I look forward to tracking down everyone who ever played on a team with Jimmy, worked with him or otherwise knew him. Stay tuned, everyone.
