Jimmy and the Rabbit

Jimmy's oldest sister Cathy reminded me of a story that Jimmy had told me several times and that is coming up in conversation even more times recently.

Apparently the Wells had a pet rabbit when the kids were little, and Jimmy wound up rescuing the critter.

With only the best intentions that a little child could have -- she must have been only three or four -- Cathy put the rabbit on the grill. You know how when cute little animals fill you with so much loving energy you just want to squeeze them? That's the space that Cathy was operating in here. It wasn't bad, it was just childhood.

So Jimmy saved the day, as he has on so many other occasions.

I'm sure there are other nuances to this story that I will learn about at Jimmy's memorial today, and if so I'll update this post accordingly. This blog will continue to relate those stories as I'm reminded of them.

Allow me to use this opportunity to remind everyone who knew Jimmy to please share your memories of him with me so I can include them in the blog. (Click on "About Me" to the left and you'll land on a page that includes a link to my email address.)
